Connect QuickBooks Payments to QuickBooks Online

Sign up for QuickBooks Payments directly from QuickBooks Online. We'll automatically connect your accounts so you can get paid faster.
If you signed up for QuickBooks Payments in another QuickBooks product, you can still use it here. Connect your payments account manually to process payments in QuickBooks Online.
Prepare to connect QuickBooks Payments to QuickBooks Online
Before you connect your account, make sure to:
- Refund open transactions before connecting your accounts. You can't refund transactions made before you connect your payments account.
- Delete any recurring payments in Merchant Services. Sign in to Merchant Services and turn off any recurring payments before you start.
Connect your QuickBooks GoPayments
- When you connect your GoPayments account to QuickBooks Online, it resets your app settings. It removes your transaction history and receipt customizations. These can still be found in your Merchant Service account.
- QuickBooks replaces items and descriptions in the app with the ones you have in QuickBooks Online to maintain consistency.
- If you have multiple customers in GoPayments, QuickBooks might remove their IDs. Find out more about user limits in QuickBooks Online.
Connect your QuickBooks Payments account to QuickBooks Online

- Sign in to QuickBooks Online as an admin.
- Go to Settings ⚙, then select Account and settings.
- Select Payments.
- To connect your existing account, select Connect your payments account.
- Select the QuickBooks Payments account you want to connect to.
- Select the accounts you use to deposit customer payments. If you need to, here's how to change the account. Then select Connect.
- In the Changes you might not expect window, select Yes, I understand.
- Once done, select Sign out and then sign back into QuickBooks Online.
Note:
- When you connect your accounts, your QuickBooks Payments user IDs replace your QuickBooks Online user IDs.
- You can recreate recurring payments as memorized sales receipts once you've linked your account.
Update the payment account for apps
If you use a shopping cart, webstore, or third-party processing apps with your Payments account, you'll need to reconnect them. Steps for reconnecting vary from app to app. Visit the QuickBooks App page, find the apps, and connect them to QuickBooks Online.
