How do you connect with your customers? What does connecting with customers add to your business?

I think people can tell when you're really listening - not just hearing but *listening* - to their comments and feedback. It's when I'm listening that I feel like I make authentic connections with my customers. What does that add? It helps create and maintain a relationship with those people, helps me improve my services, and those things help my business in the end!

I totally agree @ShanaNiederman! More listening and less talking is very important. First things first, I let my client tell me about themselves and their business as I listen. Once they share with me their needs and what is most important, I respond. This is a great opportunity to connect by showing that I was listening and have a plan how to best serve them.

I take a lot of handwritten notes when we first meet. I ask them to define success in their world. I like to revisit these notes before making calls to them and praying for my clients.

We live in an information economy where you can find tons of information online. We also live in a connection economy where there is a higher value I put on the "relationship" building process that in my opinion will be the reason you are successful. We all know that software updates causes tremendous change and that is great because it can be learned or outsourced. But the true value is connecting with your customers. A great person who talks about this a lot on his daily blog is Seth Godin.

Happy Monday, @SteveChase! Thank you so much for sharing Seth Godin's blog. I just looked through it and it's so inspiring! I am excited to delve in deeper - there is much to be learned. :smileywink:
