Keys to Business Organization

Have you ever walked into your work space and did a full face-palm and said, "Where do I even begin?!" There's receipts, highlighters, envelopes, packing supplies, un-finished projects, sticky notes, you name it, all piled high. I've got a few tips for you to get your business organized and keep the overwhelming clutter at bay.

Use a Planner
For me personally, I really like a tangible notebook style planner. I like to physically highlight and check off things to do and appointments. However, electronic planners are also easily accessible. A big plus to this means one less thing on your desk! There are some really great (and free) options available.

Content Calendar
This is kind of a 1b. to the 1a. above but part of your scheduling and planning should be social media content. Plan a month's worth of social media content for your business and write it or type it into your calendar. Many platforms also have the option to schedule posts so once you have everything planned, you can go to your accounts, make the post and schedule it for that day and time. Your calendar will then serve as a reminder for what's going to be posting later that day.

Monthly Brainstorming
Oh this is a good one! Dedicate one day a month, and take maybe 30 minutes to an hour to do some serious brainstorming. Write down every single idea that comes to mind. Ideas can range from new product ideas, social media posts, marketing plans. And you can use your planner to schedule this event. Win-win!

Track Costs & Income
Remember all of those receipts and papers I mentioned earlier? You know the ones covering your desk? I happen to know of a great accounting software, *cough * QuickBooks *cough, that you can use to track all of your costs and income and help you get rid of all of those extra papers. Just another way to get organized.

De-Clutter Your Workspace
This one is pretty straightforward. One of the first stepping stones on the path to organization is de-cluttering all of the mess. Take a small wastebasket or maybe even a large trash bag and go crazy. Get rid of any and every unnecessary item that's taking up space.

Dedicated Area
While you may have an area dedicated specifically for work, you might still find products and materials laying all over your home or office. These items also need a dedicated space. Clear plastic bins can work wonders! Additionally, one tip I've been practicing is to make a list of what's inside the bin and tape it on the inside so you're able to see it from the outside and check the list before digging through the contents.

There you go! I love when my work space is organized. I feel productive after getting it to that state and then feel like I am able to be more productive in a tidy space. What are your business organization tips? Let us know in the comments!
