More Meaningful Business Relationships

Welcome back to the Business Discussion Board! I hope this work week hasn't been too stressful. However, if you have been stressing about building stronger client relationships, I've got just the article for you! I came across this post on forbes.com that covers different strategies for building deeper, more meaningful relationships with your clients. Here are a few that were mentioned...

Listen More Than You Talk
My husband likes to semi-jokingly tell our kids there's a reason why they were given one mouth and two ears. Turns out this can apply to business relationships as well. When client's are given the opportunity to be heard, they speak more freely about the things they need. This in turn makes them feel valued, which is what every business owner wants to do for their customers.

Exchange Life and Business Stories
Communication is a major building block of trust. When you exchange stories with your client, you're opening a window for them to see the real you in a different light. They're able to make connections with the mother, father, aunt, uncle, soccer coach, home chef, whoever you may be behind the company. This type of exchange builds trust, therefore further strengthening the relationship.

Make Time for In-Person Meetups
Taking the time out of your day and showing the effort to meet with this individual will make them feel like a top priority. In-person meetups can be as simple as grabbing a cup of coffee or a quick lunch. If that's not possible, schedule a time for a Zoom meeting or Facetime call. This simple gesture can go a long way!

Check In Regularly
If it has been a while since you've exchanged stories, or had lunch together as mentioned above, maybe it's time to check-in. A quick, un-expected call, text, or email just to say "Hey" and catch up will surely bring a smile to your client's face. They'll be happy to know you thought enough of them to reach out.

Ask For Feedback
In addition to the previous points mentioned, it's never a bad idea to ask for feedback. After all, how can you get better if nobody tells you what you need to get better at? This can be done discretely with anonymous surveys and polls. But be sure you're asking the real questions; the ones with answers that will make a difference both now and in the future of your business.

There you have it! Check out the full article linked above for even more strategies on building better business relationships with your clients. What's a fool-proof method you've used for establishing lasting bonds with your customers? Let us know in the comments!
