What Are the Differences between Growing a Brand and Growing a Business?

"A brand is not a product or a promise, or a feeling. It is the sum of all experiences you have with a company." - Amir Kassaei.

Happy Friday, and welcome back to the Talk About Your Business segment. Today, I found an article by Entrepreneur that discusses the differences between growing a brand and growing a business. Here are a few points they shared:

Business is sales-focused, brand is community-based

A business goal is geared towards making a profit. However, the brand is centered around reaching more people, customer wise. They are almost one and the same in that they both depend on each other. A business needs customers in order to generate this income or to make this profit. The brand serves as an identity for the company under which products or services expand (which is the business aspect).

Brand is larger than product
A brand heavily relies on marketing and plays on the feelings of its customers. It is much more than just generating income. The article gives an example of Coca-Cola beverages bringing a sense of joy to its customers, not necessarily due to the product's ingredients, but simply because of its marketing (especially their commercials). A business can reach a larger audience just by relating to its consumers.

Brand cant be taken away from
While a business may falter, a brand is forever. Unlike a business that offers tangible goods or services, a brand is essentially representing what the entrepreneur chooses to express regarding his values, views, and goals. As the writer accurately states, " growing a brand becomes just as important in any business venture as growing the company or business itself. "

Different, but equally important
As aforementioned, while both brand and business might be two separate entities, they complement each other and are equally important. Your business meets the needs while your brand provides the market with the demands.

Share the differences and similarities between your brand and business. We will love to have your feedback. Until then, continue to be safe and be well, my Community comrades.
