Join nowWell, I've official gone from finance to flowers! After years of pursuing a career in banking I've finally decided to go into business for myself doing something I truly love: flower design. What do you like most about being a small-business owner? Is it what you expected?
Great question and welcome to the QB Community @ReneeC! Congrats on following your passion.

That's a great question, @ReneeC! First of all, congrats on your new venture!
For me, the best part of working for myself is the flexibility of working from home and setting my own hours. How about you? What makes you most excited to get to work in the morning?
Full-disclosure, I've been a manager of projects and spaces but only the owner of single employee operations (i.e. me), so my perspective is limited.
I've made the leap between academia/teaching and service sector work more times than I care to admit ><. Both were formative and invaluable experiences. What I liked most about being a manager was the opportunity to lead by example. I was able to set the tone, standard and deeply mentor my staff by modelling behaviors and practices I thought would make us successful. That also meant me taking responsibility for those practices and seeing their direct impact on the customer.
That was deeply satisfying.
Hello @ReneeC and welcome to entrepreneurship!! I think flowers and finance are a WINNING combination!! Many business owners know how to make money, but aren't so good about keeping it or thinking big, so leveraging banking skills into your flower business sounds like a winner in the making!
