What to do before your QuickBooks Self-Employed subscription from TurboTax Self-Employed expires

Learn what to do if your free subscription of QuickBooks Self-Employed is ending soon.

When you file taxes with TurboTax Self-Employed, you automatically get a free QuickBooks Self-Employed subscription for a year. This subscription lasts until April 30 of the next tax year.

If you want to keep using QuickBooks Self-Employed, you have a few options. You can buy TurboTax Self-Employed again to get another free year, or just keep paying for QuickBooks Self-Employed. If you don't plan to use QuickBooks or TurboTax Self-Employed anymore, we'll show you how to export your data before your subscription ends.

Option 1: Pay for TurboTax Self-Employed to get another free year

If you pay for TurboTax now, you get another free year of QuickBooks Self-Employed. You can keep using QuickBooks Self-Employed and access your data after April 30th.

Pay for TurboTax from a web browser

  1. Sign in to TurboTax Self-Employed.
  2. Select Tax Tools.
  3. Select Print center.
  4. Select Pay now.

Important: The special discount for continuing your subscription can't be redeemed in the mobile app. If you're in the mobile app, you will see the app store prices. Sign in from a web browser to get the discount price.

Option 2: Only pay for your QuickBooks Self-Employed subscription

If you don't want to use TurboTax Self-Employed anymore, you can keep paying only for your subscription to QuickBooks Self-Employed.

When your subscription ends, sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed. You'll be asked to enter your billing details. This lets you continue using your existing account to track your self-employed income and expenses.

Option 3: Export your QuickBooks Self-Employed data before April 30th

We want to make sure you get the most out of your data before your subscription ends. After April 30th, you won't be able to access or edit your QuickBooks Self-Employed data.

If you want to use your QuickBooks Self-Employed tax info for the current tax year, follow these steps to export your data to TurboTax Self-Employed before April 30th.

If you don't plan to use TurboTax or QuickBooks anymore, download tax reports from QuickBooks Self-Employed before April 30th:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed.
  2. Go to the Reports menu.
  3. Find the Tax summary and Tax details reports.
  4. Select tax years you want reports for. Then select Download.
