0% tax rates not saving

I have a 0% "out of state" tax rate that I like to use so I can track out of state sales.  Often times when I open an invoice o apply this 0% rate then press the save button the invoice reverts back to reflecting no tax rate, the 0% doesn't save.

Anyone else experience this?

Since you've already tried all the basic troubleshooting steps, I would recommend contacting our phone support team. They have additional tools that can double-check why the 0% tax rate isn't saving on your invoices. Here's how to reach out to them:

  1. Open this link: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
  2. Select QuickBooks Online
  3. Click Taxes, then select Sales Tax
  4. Click Get Phone Number

0% tax rates not saving

Good day, Tiffiny Taylor Krugh,

Thanks for checking this with the Community. Let's get this squared away!

If you're referring to adding 0% sales tax on your invoice transactions, the system should allow you to save and track this rate on your reports. You'll only need to make sure it is already set up in the Sales Tax Center if you're using the Manual Sales Tax option.

Here's how to add/edit a tax rate:

  1. From the left navigation panel, select Taxes.

  2. Under the Related Tasks list on the rightselect Add/edit tax rates and agencies.

  3. Click New or Edit.
  4. Enter the rate. You can also change the agency name.
  5. Select Save.

Once done, you can now add and save the rate on your invoice. (See screenshot.)

Once you save the invoice, you're able to retain a specific Sales Tax rate you have applied. However, if you're still unable to save the rate on the invoice, try logging in to a different browser or private window. Try these short cuts below:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Internet Explorer: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

If you're no longer getting the same result, go back to the regular window and clear you browser's cache to get a clean slate for your browser.

That should get you on the right track, Tiffiny Taylor Krugh. If you're referring to a different rate, please feel free to let me know so I can get back to you. Have a great day!

Thank you for an incredibly explanatory response, unfortunately nothing worked.

I took this video to help explain what I am experiencing.  This was taken using Chrome & I just cleared my cache.
