Join nowWill QuickBooks (Intuit) mail forms 1099 out to my contractors? My contractors have received an email stating that they must to set up an Intuit account to view, download or print their forms. Also, the email sent to the contractors does not mention that a physical form will be mailed to them. Therefore, many of them don't want to sign up, thus I end up taking longer to download, print and mail it to each of them. So my questions to you are 1) Is there a way to modify the email my contractors receive so they know that they will receive a copy of the 1099 form in the mail. 2) Can my contractors view their 1099 form WITHOUT creating a free Intuit account? Please advise, and thanks.

Allow me to provide additional information about filing 1099 in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
QuickBooks will mail a printed 1099 copy to your contracts once you e-filed it within the system. However, if you choose not to e-file with Intuit, your contractors won't receive a copy. You'll want to print out 1099 copies so you can send them to your contractors.
On the other hand, your contractors need to create a 1099 E-file service account to access their 1099 form online. If they don't want to create an account, you'll also need to send them a copy of their 1099.

Thanks for your time, but unfortunately these do not answer my questions. My first question basically is, I want to know whether Intuit will mail out a copy of the 1099s to contractors or not? Right now, the email my contractors received shows as the copy would be "only" via email and not via mail (hard copy). My second question is, Can my contractors view, download, and print their 1099 form "WITHOUT" creating the free intuit account? They just don't want to create an Intuit account just to get access to their 1099 form. It should be as easy access as they would get it in the USPS. Thank you for your help.

Thank you, Mark. You did respond my questions. Yes, I did e-file. Just that I don't know why Intuit makes contractors create an account so they can view, download and print their 1099s. Thank you again.

I know this was a year ago, hoping you can help me - I have the same questions as you did last year. I have efiled my 1099's thru QBO with the IRS, and the Current Filings "status" is showing that Contractors Copies were "Mailed". I do not have an email address set up for my contractors. I just want to confirm, QBO is really mailing out paper copies of the forms to my contractors? WITHOUT charging me more? How can that be? I know they make a lot of $$, but seems like they would charge postage at least for doing this. Just want to make sure my contractors WILL get these paper copies mailed to them - did your contractors last year receive these paper copies? Thanks for any help you can provide.
Hello there, jessicakim.
I'm here to share more information about viewing the 1099 forms.
Your contractors can view and download their 1099s once you send them an invitation. When you invite them, they can create a QuickBooks Self-Employed account for free. This way, they can securely share their tax info with you and view the 1099 form after you've filed them.
After you submit the 1099-MISC to the IRS, your contractors will get an email when it's ready for download. Let them select the link in the email to sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed. Here's how they can view their 1099s:
For more details about how they can view the 1099 forms, feel free to read through this reference: Learn how to sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed to get your 1099-MISC.
