1099 Forms QBO

When I'm creating 1099 forms, it appears that the system adds the primary Contact Name (First Name, Last Name) above the business name as the recipient company.  The only way I've seen to fix this issues is to remove the primary contact name from the vendor profile, but that doesn't feel right to me.

Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

1099 Forms QBO

I've got you covered, @samirshah23.

Please know that the 1099-NEC form only considers one recipient's name. Thus, when you entered the vendor's name on their profile, the system will automatically read it as your company name.

At this time, you can consider removing the vendor name on your vendors' profile to show the company name on the 1099-NEC form. Then, reenter it again once you're done preparing and filing the form. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Vendors menu, then select each vendor that isn't showing the company name.
  2. Click the Edit button.
  3. Remove the name of the vendor, then click Save.

Once done, prepare your 1099-NEC again and verify if the company name is already showing. After preparing the form, you can reenter the vendor's name on their profile.

However, if the issue persists, I highly recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. This way, they can further investigate this matter and provide additional troubleshooting steps to get this resolved.

Thank you for the help.  Your suggested method is what was recommended by our tax pro.

If I have any suggestion for the product team, it would be to use the "Display Name" for the 1099 in the future.  We use the Name fields to store the primary contact for the company.  Removing, then adding back seems too much so we now will lose the name information going forward.

Again, appreciate the help.
