Due to the craziness of covid back in March, I forgot to file our corporate return. We received a late filing penalty notice (which I think is excessive). I tried calling, but get the "we are too busy, try again" message and then get hung up on.
This is a first time offense, so I wrote a letter stating why we didn't file on time and request a reduction of the penalty. Never received a response from this letter.
Now, we received another notice, this one stating they are going to levy our property. Still cannot get through to the IRS.
Any suggestions? We are a small business losing money and an $800 fine is not needed at this time.
