Can add a row of "income before income tax"? and then add a row as "income tax" before total income?

can we change current format of income statement? we don't want federal and state income tax included in Expense section. Indeed, we want federal and state income tax are posted after "income before tax" section.

Can add a row of "income before income tax"? and then add a row as "income tax" before total income?

Hi there, dawnfan11.

Currently, there's no option to change the current format of income statement or adding rows to the report.

For now, I suggest exporting the Profit and Loss report to an Excel and customize it from there.

Here's how:

1. Click the Reports tab at the left panel.
2. Go to the search icon and type Profit and Loss.
3. Select the Export icon. Then choose Export to Excel.
4. Save the file somewhere you can easily find. Like, your desktop.

Please note that if the data is missing when you open the report in Excel, the file's in protected view. You’ll need to select Enable Editing to view the full report. And then, start customizing the report.

Please check this article to see different things you can do more with reports in QuickBooks: Run reports in QuickBooks Online. This also provides steps on how to print and email the report.

"Can add a row of "income before income tax"?"
In QBO, there is no way to edit the report layout format at this time.
The option is to use the Other Expense Type for Federal and State Income Taxes in QBO. This way you will see Net Operating Income line (before Taxes) and Taxes after that.

Hope this helps!
