Can I get my account set to auto assign the correct sales tax rate to each county that we provide services? So far it assigns the sale tax rate of my companies address

Ohio has a seperate sales tax rate for each county. The system charges everyone of my invoices the Warren Co rate of 7% which is where my business address is located. We provide on site service so we have to tax based on which county we are in. OH rules - Retail sales of taxable services = sales tax is determined by where the consumer receives the services.

Can I get my account set to auto assign the correct sales tax rate to each county that we provide services? So far it assigns the sale tax rate of my companies address

Hi there, ArrowheadPT.

Sales tax in QuickBooks Online is automatically calculated based on the following:

  • Your customer’s tax-exempt status
  • Where you sell and where you ship
  • What you sell

In some states, when you sell or ship to a different address, sellers are required to charge sales tax based on business location.

For your situation, you'll want to manually change the Location of sale on each transaction with a different address. This will update the sales tax calculation in the transaction. Here's a sample screenshot of an invoice for a visual guide:

I'm a post away if you need more help with QuickBooks Online. Thanks.
