Can't access/download 1099

I have a single Intuit account I use for Mint, paying bills to misc. vendors who use QuickBooks, e.g., landscaper, and my own consulting engineering firm (I use QuickBooks Online).  I received an e-mail with the link to download my company's 1099 from a client, also a consulting engineer.  The link was sent to my company e-mail address, the same from which I send my client my invoices.  When I click the link to access the 1099, my work e-mail address is pre-filled in the credentials field.  I have no Intuit account that uses my work e-mail.  There is an option to use an existing Intuit account.  When I click that and attempt to use my existing Intuit account credentials, I get an error stating, "Hmm. That didn't work. Use the same email address as your invitation."

I've tried private windows in multiple browsers and clearing caches and histories as suggested in other responses to this or similar problems.  Did not work.

Am I supposed to create a new Intuit account with my work e-mail address just to access my 1099?  In doing so, would the e-mail and password I then use to access Mint, pay personal invoices, and my own QuickBooks change as well?  This is implied when reading the following:, which is where clicking "Learn more" at the aforementioned error page leads.

I don't want my Intuit account associated with my work e-mail address.  Should not be this hard to access my 1099.  As the recipient, and not the company issuing the 1099, I shouldn't even have to mess with an Intuit account.
