Do unpaid quarterly projects roll over to next quarter?

I have an unpaid quarterly projection for Q3 on quickbooks. Instead of paying through quickbooks, I went directly through EFTPS. My Q4 projection is now SIGNIFICANTLY higher than the previous quarters, almost double. Does quickbooks account for “unpaid” quarters and roll them over to the next quarterly projection?

Do unpaid quarterly projects roll over to next quarter?

Hi there, Savannar.

You've come to the right place. I'm here with some insight to provide on your question regarding your quarterly projections.

Yes, you are correct, we do account unpaid projections and carry them over to the next quarterly projection. However, we're not technically adding them to your fourth quarter projections.

To put it simply, they'll remain open up until you've recorded the complete payment to settle it. Since you've mentioned that you already paid for this through EFTPS, let's go ahead and record it to correct your records.

To enter the payment:

  1. Click Transactions in the left navigation bar.
  2. Hit Add transaction.
  3. Enter the Date, Description, and Amount.
  4. Click Select a category.
  5. Search for Estimated Taxes.
  6. In the Results section, select Estimated Taxes.
  7. Hit Save.

All of this information and more is available from our guide on paying estimated quarterly taxes. With these resources, you'll be recording tax payments into QuickBooks like an expert before long.

Please let me know if there's anything else you need, I want to make sure you're taken care of. Thanks for reaching out, wishing you a wonderful rest of your week.
