Does QuickBooks Desktop 2018 allow custom "Other deductions" in tax-line mapping?

We are doing tax-line mapping in QuickBooks Desktop 2018. There are some deductions on our taxes from previous year that is not available/listed in QuickBook's default list of tax-line mappings. So far I was not able to find an option to edit that (tax-line mappings) list and/or add our own tax-line mapping item.

As an example, our 2018 tax statement with other deductions lists "ELD", "LOADBOARD" and couple other custom other deductions. Ideally we would like those to be in Quickbooks tax line mappings for consistency with previous year and with future tax filings.

Edit:

See attached screenshot. Instead of assigning account to "Other Deductions: Other deductions" it would be "Other Deductions: ELD" or "Other Deductions: {INSERT ANY OTHER CUSTOM DEDUCTION HERE}"

Thank you for posting in the Community, @PancakeBimmer.

I'm here to help share some insights about payroll tax-tracking in QuickBooks.

When creating a deduction item, QuickBooks automatically list all the available tax tracking type based on the payroll setup. If the tax tracking type you previously used is not in the list, it'd be best to check with your tax advisor to ensure the correct tracking for your tax forms.

Let me help walk you through the process of changing a tax tracking type for your deduction item. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Lists menu and select Payroll Item List.
  2. Right-click on the deduction item you need to edit.
  3. Select Edit Payroll Item.
  4. Click the Next tab until you reach the Tax tracking type page.
  5. Select the correct tax tracking type.
  6. Click Next until Finish.

That should do it. You can also check out the following helpful articles below should you need it for future reference.

Keep me posted if you have additional questions about tax mapping. I'm here to help however I can.

Not quite what I was looking for. Here, maybe a screenshot will help.

My goal is to have custom tax-line mapping option "Other Deduction:s: ELD"

Adding or editing the tax line mapping list is unavailable, PancakeBimmer.

If you need a tax line mapping that is not included in the list, you might want to check your company settings. This is because the list will vary on how your company information was setup.

Here’s how to check your company information settings:

  1. Go to Company at the top.
  2. Select My Company.
  3. Click the pencil icon on the company information field.
  4. Select Report Information from the left menu.
  5. Choose the correct Income Tax Form Used for your type of business.
  6. Click OK.

If it was setup correctly but still not a having your desired tax line mapping, I’d recommend consulting an accountant. They’ll be able to advice which tax line mapping you can select as an alternative.

I'll be around if you need anything else.
