YES,  I keep asking and no one can help me.  QB Online has the shipping at the bottom of an invoice, not as a line item, so it isnt being calculated in the sales tax reporting.  All of the sales tax reports are off because it isnt including shipping.  We collect the sales tax on shipping, CT requires that, but the reports are off.

I think QB Online is a nightmare, with no support.

Hello @EHagel, hope your week is going well so far.

That's definitely not the experience we want you to have with support. I'll happily explain the best steps for this situation. You're right that in QuickBooks Online shipping is not taxable but there's a way to add it to your invoice.

You can add shipping as a service item in the Product/Service section of your invoice. Then, mark the Tax column and choose a sales tax rate. Here are those steps:

  1. Click the +New button, and then choose Invoice under the Customers section.
  2. Select the Customer name in the drop-down ▼ and other info needed.
  3. Create a line item in the Product/Service section.
  4. Click the +Add new button, and then select Service. Enter "shipping" as the name, then Save and Close.
  5. Make sure to enter an amount, check the Tax column, and then select a taxable rate.
  6. Hit Save and Close once filled out.
