You can change your password in the Payroll Center. I'll walk you through how.

  1. Click Employees, then Payroll Center.
  2. Click the Pay Liabilities tab.
  3. In the Pay Taxes & Other Liabilities section, select the federal liability to e-pay, then click View/Pay.
  4. Verify that E-payment is selected, and then click E-pay.
  5. Clear the Remember My Information for the next Time checkbox.
  6. Enter your new 4-Digit PIN and EFTPS Internet password.
  7. Enter any other missing information.
  8. Click Submit.

The next time you make e-payment, re-enter your new 4-Digit PIN and EFTPS Internet password, and then click the Remember My Information for next Time option.

 Updated my EFTPS pw two days ago per new requirements (min length 12-30 characters) and now QB will not allow me to enter over 12 characters so I am unable to pay my liability!!   Meanwhile, EFTPS will not allow another pw update until 10days have passed!!  Help!!

We want to make sure you can pay and file your taxes in QuickBooks, sparkstm.

 

The first thing that we need to do is update your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release. Once done, the next step is doing the latest payroll news and updates.

 

Finally, try to update your EFTPS password in QuickBooks Desktop. This is to match your new EFTPS Internet password.

 

Here's how:

  1. Click Employee located at the top.
  2. Choose Payroll Center, and then select the Pay Liabilities tab.
  3. In the Pay Taxes & Other Liabilities section, select the tax liability to e-pay, and click View/Pay.
  4. Make sure that the E-payment is selected, and then click E-pay.
  5. Clear the Remember My Information for next Time checkbox.
  6. Manually type in your new 4-Digit PIN and EFTPS Internet password.
  7. Enter any other missing information.
  8. Click Submit.

I understand where you coming from, @RM2CM.

 

To help you sort this out, were you able to follow the suggestion stated by my colleague above on updating your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) account to the latest version and get the latest payroll tax table before updating your EFTPS password in your QBDT account? If no, I suggest doing it so.

 

If yes, and your still unable to update your EFTPS password in QuickBooks. I recommend reaching out to our Support Team. This way, they can check into your account from a secure environment. From there, they'll be able to investigate this issue on why you're unable to enter your new EFTPS password in your QuickBooks Desktop account.

 

In the meantime, you can make your payment directly at the EFTPS site.

Please read these posts before commenting. I know how to update my password. I have already updated my password in EFTPS. I CANNOT update my password in QB because it will not take a password over 12 characters. QB sent out an email on August 8th stating we needed to change the password before September 19th or our payment will be rejected. QB has not updated this feature and now says it will take place in October. After changing a password in EFTPS, you cannot change it again for 10 days. My taxes are due today. My EFTPS password cannot be changed again for 4 days. QuickBooks messed up!

I appreciate you for clarifying your concerns, RM2CM.

 

In the meantime, you can pay the taxes directly to the EFTPS page. With regards to the password, QuickBooks will allow you to change it to more than twelve characters starting October 24, 2019. This can be the reason why it's not accepted by QuickBooks.

 

For now, you'll have to use a password that contains 8-12 characters.
