How do I remove paid unemployment tax

How do I remove paid unemployment taxes? They were paid directly to Texas Unemployment, and did not go thru QuickBooks.

We'll enter it as a prior payment to remove the tax liability due, Pharris2. 


I'll guide you how:

  1. Click Help, then go to About QuickBooks.
  2. Press Ctrl + Alt + Y on your keyboard to open the Set Up YTD Amounts window. 
  3. Click Next until you reach the Enter prior payments section.
  4. Click Create Payment.
  5. Enter the Payment and For Period Ending Dates.
  6. In the Taxes and Liabilities field, select the Unemployment tax, then enter the amount.
  7. Click Accounts Affected, then select how you want it to affect the liability account.
  8. Click OK, then Done.
  9. Click Finish

Once done recording the payment, it will no longer show as due in the Pay Taxes & Other Liabilities section.
