How do I turn off automated sales tax

Hello, @philip14.

Great to have you here in the Community. I'm happy to provide you with information to switch back to the old tax center.

Note: The " Want to permanently switch to the old tax center?" This option is only available for QBO users who have migrated from the manual sales tax feature.

If you have a brand new QuickBooks account with Automated Sales Tax already enabled, you won't be able to see this option.

Please touch base with us here if there's anything else you need, I'm determined to ensure your success.

How do I turn off automated sales tax

I have had quickbooks online for over a year I believe and i did not accept the option of the new sales tax automation.  It was a forced change that just showed up one day.  It is to cumbersome and takes a lot longer and leads to mistakes.  please give me the option to go back to the old system that I spent time to set up the way I wanted.

Every year this stuff gets worse not better.  I am seriously thinkin about switching out to a different program.

We can go back to the old sales tax center, philip14.

The process is a bit long in which we need convert your file to the Desktop version and then back to Online. I'm attaching a trial account for QuickBooks Desktop that you can use. There can also be limitation during the exporting process.

Let me show you how to convert your file into QuickBooks Desktop:

  1. Log in to QBO.
  2. Click the Gear icon at the upper-right and click Export data
  3. Toggle all reports and choose All dates.
  4. Click Export to Excel.
  5. Once exported, click the Lists tab from the Export data page.

Please use this reference for more details when moving your lists and balances from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop

Keep me posted and I'll be here to help.

How do I turn off automated sales tax

I have lost trust in the online version.  THis is not the first time stuff like this has happened.  I just want to go back to the desktop.  Can you get me a full desktop version?  I think I have paid enough money to have bought it at this point.   If not, I will be looking elsewhere.

We don't want our customers to feel inconvenienced, Philip14.

You can go back to your QuickBooks Desktop version. I'm here to help you.

First, let's download and install QuickBooks Desktop.

If you don't have your license and product numbers handy, here's how you can get them:

  1. Log in to CAMPS using your Intuit credentials.
  2. Get the numbers in the Products & Services section.

Then, export your Online data to QuickBooks Desktop. Some transactions may not carry over due to export limitations. You'll want to compare the Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet reports of both programs to verify the missing transactions, then manually enter them.

Although, if your Desktop version is no longer supported, you can download the trial version, and use it for free in 30 days. Then, purchase a new one when ready.

You can check these websites to help you decide what product to choose:

Hello there, @philip14.

We can disable the sales tax in the automated sales tax but we are unable to go back to the old sales tax. I'll pass along your request to our product developers. This way, they'll consider utilizing the new automated sales tax calculation.

You can also visit our QuickBooks Online Blog regularly. From there, you'll be updated with the new features and improvements that our developers are currently working on.

Also, I encourage visiting our Help Articles page for QuickBooks Online in case you need some tips and related articles for your future.

Reach out to us if you need anything else. I'll make sure to help.

How do I turn off automated sales tax

It sure does seem that a lot of users hate the new sales tax feature. I've not seen it, but just by customer response is seems like it must be lacking.

I wonder why Intuit is hell bent on making people use something that they don't like and that, it seems, doesn't work very well.
