How to correct payment date for payroll withholding tax payments in QBO

As I am trying to sort through some payroll withholding cleanup, I notice that the payment date for a Georgia withholding tax payment is showing up as September, when the payment was actually made in March. There seems to be no way for me to correct this. Is there a way to change the date the payment was made? The transaction is not showing in September of the bank feed; it shows March.

How to correct payment date for payroll withholding tax payments in QBO

Let me help you correct the payment date for payroll tax payments in QuickBooks Online (QBO), lauren040508.

If the tax payment is manually recorded (non-electronic payments), we can delete it in your account. Then, record the tax payment for the March period.

Here's how to delete the tax payment:

  1. Go to Taxes on the left side menu.
  2. Select Payroll tax.
  3. Tick the View tax payments you have made under Pay Taxes.
  4. Choose the Date Range of the payment.
  5. Click the Tax Payment and tap the Delete button.
  6. Press Yes to confirm.

For more details about this one, check out this article: Delete a tax payment.

Once done, enter the tax payment with the correct period in QBO. Just follow the steps and details in this article: Recording prior tax payments.

If the tax payment is processed electronically, the option to delete it is unavailable. In this case, I'd suggest contacting our Payroll Support Team. They'll pull up your account in a secure environment and help you with this one.

Here's how to reach them:

  1. Click the Help icon on the top right.
  2. Tap the Contact Us button at the bottom.
  3. Enter a short description of your concern.
  4. Tick Continue
  5. Choose Message an agent to connect with our support.
