Does Turning Off Sales Tax Button allow you to correct mistakes in the Sales Tax Payable Acccount?  These accuonts have been off since the new sales tax update came on.

How to turn off automated sales tax?

Hey there, @MP65.

Turning off the sales tax feature won't correct the error in your Sales Tax Payable account.

However, you can open the Sales Tax Liability report to determine which transactions are affecting the account. Then, follow these steps to create the adjustment so you could correct your reporting.

  1. Select Taxes from the Navigation bar, and go to the Sales tax tab.
  2. Find the tax period you need to adjust, then click View return.
  3. Select Add an adjustment choose the Reason for the adjustment.
  4. Pick the Account for adjusting sales tax.
    1. Choose an expense account if you need to increase the tax due.
    2. Choose an income account if you need to decrease the tax due.
  5. Enter the Adjustment amount, and click Add.
