Hi there, @celia-shaffer9.

Welcome to the Community family. I can help you revert back to manual sales tax.

There's just a few steps to follow to get back on the manual sales tax feature:

  1. In the left navigation bar, go to Taxes.
  2. Select Sale Tax.
  3. Click Sales tax settings in the upper right corner.
  4. At the bottom of the screen, you'll see "Want to temporarily switch to the old tax center? Switch here."
  5. Click the here link.

For brand new QuickBooks account with automated sales tax enabled, you can use the override capability available on the transactions to ignore the automated calculation. If this won't work and you still want to be removed from auto sales tax, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Online Care Team.

They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment and enable the manual sales tax feature for you. Please visit this link to reach out support: How and when can I contact Support? (US only).

The following article contains additional insights into this: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Help-Articles/Migrate-to-US-Automated-Sales-Tax/m-p/192599.

That should help you enable the manual sales tax feature again. Let me know how things go and if you should need anything, I'm just a reply away. Have a most lovely day.

Sorry. We see you've collected sales tax on one or more items. This means you can't turn off sales tax.
