I have the QuickBooks Self-Employed and TurboTax bundle. Why am I being charged to file my taxes with TurboTax?

Thank you for posting in the Community regarding the charges for filing your taxes with TurboTax, @pdavis3. I can share some insights into why you're being charged to file them with TurboTax.

QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) and TurboTax bundle generally include Federal tax filing through TurboTax Self-Employed at no additional cost. However, there are some reasons why you're seeing a charge:

  • State Tax Filing Fees: The bundle covers federal tax filing (like Form 1040). However, it doesn't include state tax filing fees. If you're filing state taxes, charges for that service apply.
  • Upgraded TurboTax Version: If you upgraded to a different version of TurboTax, such as TurboTax Premier or TurboTax Home & Business, this could result in extra fees.
  • Additional Services: If you opted for additional services or add-ons during the filing process, such as professional review or audit defense, these would incur extra charges.
  • Billing Cycle or Subscription Issues: There might be an issue with your bundle subscription or billing cycle. Ensure that your QuickBooks Self-Employed subscription is active and linked adequately to TurboTax, or check the charge using our look-up tool through this article: Understanding Intuit charges on your credit card or bank statement.

If none of these situations apply, I recommend contacting our live support directly to resolve the issue. They can check your account details to provide more information about the charges using their tools in a secure session. Here's how to contact them in QBSE:

  1. Login to QBSE via the web browser.
  2. Click the Help menu on the upper right.
  3. Select Contact Us.
  4. Enter your sync concern between Etsy and QBSE in the 'What can we help you with' box.
  5. Hit Continue.
  6. Select Chat or Callback.

Please take note of our support schedule. Our live support is available from Monday to Friday, 6 AM to 6 PM, and Saturday, 6 AM to 3 PM PT. Alternatively, you can also consider contacting our TurboTax support.

For more details about avoiding data entry errors and how you send your self-employed info with TurboTax Self-Employed, you can check this guide: Send QuickBooks Self-Employed tax info to TurboTax Self-Employed or Live.

Additionally, this article can help you identify the taxes that will show up in your QBSE reports: Schedule C and expense categories in QuickBooks Solopreneur and QuickBooks Self-Employed.

This is all the information you can look at about filing taxes with QuickBooks Self-Employed and TurboTax bundle. Let me know if you have other concerns about your QBSE and TurboTax bundle. I'm just one post away to help you out.
