I need to delete a sales tax item I accidently created

Hello, @cshade0506.

You can make the sale tax item inactive. By doing so, it will not affect your sales tax calculation nor it will be included in your reports. Since as of this time, the ability to permanently delete a sales tax item is not available.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Taxes menu.
  2. Choose the Sales Tax Settings link.
  3. From the list of Sales Tax Agencies, locate the incorrect one.
  4. Click the Edit drop-down arrow from the Action column.
  5. Select the Make inactive button.
  6. Pick Make Inactive to confirm the action.

You can also edit your existing sales tax rate in QuickBooks. However, if you're trying to remove a sales tax rate, you can follow the steps in this article: Remove sales tax rate.
