If you have a physical presence, a store, in FL, then you collect FL sales tax.

FL does not have an economic nexus so physical presence is required

You do not collect CA sales tax for sales that are out of state.  So in this case you would sell sales tax free

It's good to see you here again in the Intuit Community, debbie27.

I'd be happy to help share information about how Automated Sales tax works in QuickBooks Online.

Using the Automated Sales Tax feature, the system will automatically calculate the sales tax based on the following information:

  • The state where you have nexus and are registered to collect sales tax.
  • The physical address of your business.
  • The physical address on the sales receipt or invoice.
  • The product mapping you have associated with the products or services you are selling.
  • The exemption status of your customer.

To know more about how this feature calculates taxes, you can read this article: Set up and use Automated Sales Tax.

You may also find this article helpful in the future: Use the Automated Sales Tax Center.

Stay in touch with me if you have any other questions about the new Automated Sales Tax. I'm always here to answer it for you.
