Issues with QBO transfer to QBD for TurboTax Business

Please help! I **really** hate how every year we have to manually transfer our QBO info to QBD in order to use TurboTax for Business.

This year you can use Chrome and Edge (yay!), but of course the terrible migration tool to take your exported QBXML file from QBO for importing into QBD doesn't actually work.

I ran into a similar issue last year, but it ended up being an IE11 and ActiveX problem. I've tried downloading our file using Chrome and Edge (using this Support Guidance), and keep getting the same problem. The file downloads very quickly, and then when I try and import using the desktop migration tool it tells me that the file is not a valid XML file (pic attached). I've tried downloading it multiple times and I've run the browsers, QBD, and the migration tool all as administrator, but same issue.

I called live support (who was super helpful and shared screens with me last year). This time I got an agent in India who transferred me to another in India, who then transferred me to a woman in the southern U.S. Her line had all sorts of TV noise in the background; and she made me do all the same steps above again. She couldn't figure out how to fix my issue and then all of a sudden just hung up on me!

I need to file our taxes this week, and I'm so sick of wasting hours every year just trying to make QBO and TurboTax talk. Please help (or direct me to a different tax software that will actually work with QBO).

Thanks!

I know how this process takes time when you're unable to open your company file exported from your QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop, @GDVO.

I appreciate the things you've done to fix this. This is not the impression I want you to experience with our live support team.

As per checking on the screenshot you've attached, the file type is already correct, and you're almost at the finish line.

For now,  I'd recommend getting in touch with our Technical Support Team. They have the necessary tools to determine why you're still getting an error when trying to open your company file.

I'm looking forward to the success of the conversion process after contacting our support team, @GDVO

Please know that I'll be right around the Community if you have other concerns. Take care always.

@GDVO

You may utilize a bookkeeping app to integrate with your QBO and export the TXF file as a workaround. You don't need to convert your file to QB Desktop.

Thanks. Any suggestions on an app that does that?

P.S. It would be great if Intuit actually made good tax software so that we didn’t have to jump through all their hoops to use their software. If TurboTax consumer is all online, why can’t Business be also? We pay much more for business and yet Business is literally the same crappy software from Windows 98 days just with the necessary tax rule updates for the new year.

Issues with QBO transfer to QBD for TurboTax Business

Hello, greglittle82.

I know the importance of having this kind of feature. I'll make sure to tap this into our developer's team. Though, our developer's team is working hard to add a new feature to the best interest of our customers.

On the other hand, I can't suggest which app may suit your need though I suggest checking through our QuickBooks Apps store. There are various apps that integrate with QuickBooks.

You may want to consider visiting our QuickBooks Blog. From there, you can see the future developments and the latest news about QuickBooks and what our Product Care Team is working on.

You can always get back here in the Community for additional QuickBooks related questions. Doing so helps us to further explain everything to you. Stay safe!

Check your PM. If you are lucky, you may utilize the trial period of it for free.

Hope it works.

That is exactly the route I went and got passed to three different people, the last of which hung up on me. Is there another way to go directly to a higher level of support with someone who is familiar with this issue? This exact same problem happened last year, back when you did everything through ActiveX, and I was directed to someone who knew what she was doing.

This year, instead of updating the software, you just updated the migration tool so that it no longer requires (or even accepts IE11), but it doesn't work. So frustrating!

I can see the urgency of getting this resolved, PebbleChamp. And I appreciate you voicing your concern and reaching out to our support.

As much as I would love to take care of this, resolving this issue requires in-depth troubleshooting steps, which can't be done in a public forum like the community for the security of your information. That said, I highly recommend contacting our Customer Care team again.

You can also provide your previous case number, so one of our support can review the notes you have from your previous contact to continue where the last agent left off. This way, you won't be repeating yourself.

For ways on how to connect with us, check out this link: Contact QuickBooks products and services Support. Ensure to review their support hours so, you'll know when agents are available.

If you have additional assistance while managing your QuickBooks account, let me know. I'll be around to provide further assistance. Have a nice day.

Issues with QBO transfer to QBD for TurboTax Business

Hi. I tried again. Quickbooks Desktop support team tried to pass me to QBO team. After a 10 min. wait, she came back and said she couldn't get ahold of them. So she tried to chat with her "backend" colleagues to get information. They sent me an email with three solutions, which involved me paying a pro user or external app to download my info from QBO. Then I shared the link above that I had been following, and they were surprised because they hadn't seen it before. They didn't know what to do and didn't have anyone to pass me to. They said they would send me an email if they found anything.

Case number [removed]

How can I be linked up with someone who knows this issue and can actually help? Another 1.5 hr. down the drain trying to figure this out and I need resolution by tomorrow.

Thanks!

Issues with QBO transfer to QBD for TurboTax Business

I appreciate you sharing the steps you've made, @PebbleChamp.

Let me share additional steps so you can transfer your QuickBooks Online (QBO) file to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for TurboTax. To start, you'll have to export your QBO file to QBDT. If you don't have a QBDT program, head to the Download page at this link to download a trial version.

Once done, you can now move your QBDT tax information to TurboTax. For the detailed guide, please see this article: How do I import QuickBooks data into TurboTax Business? This process can take time. You can also manually enter your TurboTax tax information if needed.

If you still can't transfer your QBO data, I highly suggest reaching out to our technical support team. I know that you've already contacted them, however, they use specific tools to further assist you with the process. Once connected, you can provide your case number to the representative so they can review your case history. Refer to these easy steps:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Click Contact us.
  3. Enter a brief description of your concern in the question box.
  4. Hit Continue.
  5. Choose either Chat with us or Have us call you.

Also, QuickBooks offers self-help articles that will guide you to finish your tasks in no time. To start browsing, go to our QuickBooks help page at this link.

Let me know how this goes and leave a reply below. I'll be always around to help. Have a good one.

Issues with QBO transfer to QBD for TurboTax Business

Sorry Divina, but now we're going in circles. If you had read the previous posts where I explain what I was doing, that is that exact process I have been following from the beginning that doesn't work.

It sounds like the only solution because you guys make terrible solutions for your core QBO customers is to pay extra for a 3rd party tool to extract my data so that I can then import it into *your* TurboTax software (since you didn't update your software to be able to talk to each other)... or, I have to transfer all the information manually into TurboTax, which basically defeats the purpose of using your software in the first place.

Terrible customer support and terrible products.
