PayPal transactions not matching up with the tax charged and showing differences in the register and reconciliation

So I have been trying to figure this out for days. I have talked to quick books support and have not been able to get this straightened out.

We are a online eBay business and all sales go through PayPal. Our PayPal account is synced up with quick books so all the transactions come over and it is very easy to add. Or at least it was. So for the month of January we recorded all the sales under "PayPal Sales" and all the PayPal fees under "PayPal Fees". Below each of the income lines there is a payment sent line that is from the sales tax collected by eBay. We put these transactions under "Tax Collected By E bay". Which worked great for the month of January. No issues at all everything reconciled good.

So for the month of February we had a sale take place where we collected the sales tax. So obviously we need to report that. After i opted into collecting sales tax it now applies sales tax to all the lines that eBay collected sales tax on. So that means its charging twice. I have went through all the lines and unticked the tax square. Still has everything way off balance. Nothing is matching up for some reason. I've tried to turn the tax option off so it wont charge twice and i can go back to reconciling like i did in January. It still charges the tax and leaving me to manually take the tax option off of each transaction (which is a lot) Nothing is matching. I have tried a lot of different things and it seems the only answer is to turn off the taxation on the transaction coming in from PayPal.

Another example is that after i have all the transaction in the PayPal register it is missing the whole month of February in a profit and loss report. How is that possible? Is there an issue with quick books online?

I hope someone else has ran into this issue and knows the frustration.

PayPal transactions not matching up with the tax charged and showing differences in the register and reconciliation

Hi there, RTDP.

Our engineers has already opened an investigation about a couple of reports that customers are unable to match sales receipt in QuickBooks.

This can also be the reason why you can't see these transactions in the P and L since you're not able to match them for the month of February.

I can see that you're previously called in in regards to this issue. However, I would recommend reaching out to our phone support again so they can add you to the list of affected users. The list also serves as a notification list. Emails will be sent as soon as the issue is resolved.

Follow these steps on how to reach out to our support:

  1. Go to the Help menu and click Contact Us.
  2. Provide a short overview of the help that you need to inform them in advance.
  3. Click Let's talk.
  4. Select the Chat or Get a callback option.

I'll be around if you need anything else. The Community is always here to be your guide again.

It would be great to talk to a advanced representative from quick books online to resolve this issue. It takes a very long time to explain to your support team what the issue is. Due to getting someone new every time i call. I cant be the only one with this issue. Can you provide me a contact of a representative that can expedite this process?

This is not helpful when the solution doesn't exist in any of those resources.
