Payroll Tax form

I am attempting to prepare my Michigan Form 5080 for 2018 Quarter 4.  However, I have recently updated Quickbooks payroll.  Therefore, I am receiving an error that states "MI Form 5080: Return period ending - You cannot file this return. Form 5080 is for the current tax year.  Quickbooks only stores one version of the form.  For general information on how to file a prior year tax return, go to Intuit Payroll Support."

I have gone to support with my question but cannot find an answer on how to complete the 2018 Quarter 4 form now that I have already downloaded the 2019 forms.

Payroll Tax form

We have a different option for you to file the tax form, DDGi-ddm.

You can download the old tax form from the state website. Then, open the Form 5080 and use last quarter's date to get the amounts. Here's how:

  1. Download the tax form here: https://www.michigan.gov/documents/taxes/5080_609248_7.pdf.
  2. Open the tax form and use 10/01/2018 in the Start Date, then use 12/31/2018 for the End Date field.

QuickBooks will pull up the amounts from the date you selected on the updated form. Once you have the information, copy them to the downloaded form and mail it to the state agency.

I'd be glad to get back here in case you have follow-up questions.
