payroll taxes

Since updating to Windows 10 I can not e-pay my payroll tax deposits. I have updated windows 10 and run the quickbooks diagnostics tool and still no luck. It did speed up my quickbooks which had gotten really slow. I already called and spoke with tech support, for over 2 hours and they could not fix it. I know there has to be a setting that needs to be fixed but I don't know what it is. I need help!!

Thanks for posting to the Community, @fdkiralla.

It's good to hear that you've updated your OS to meet the system requirements. Let's make sure you've updated the tax table and check the e-pay setup so you can submit tax payments.

Let me show you how to download the latest tax table in QuickBooks Desktop:

  1. Go to the Employees menu.
  2. Select Get Payroll Updates.
  3. Check the Download Entire Update box.
  4. Select Download Latest Update.

You can also update the tax table automatically. From this link, you can check the latest available release for your version.

You can also refer to this article on how to set up electronic payment and filing taxes in QuickBooks Desktop: E-file and e-pay state tax forms together.

I'll add this article on how to check your e-filing status: Check e-file or e-pay status.

Please feel free to leave a comment on this post or tag me (@Jovychris_A) if you need further assistance. I'll be happy to help. Take care!

Thank you for responding but updating my payroll is not the problem. The error window that pops up when I try to e-pay say" Problem: Quickbooks encountered a network problem while processing your payment or form: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send." I tried to e-pay on my secretary's computer and it works on hers. So there is something blocking it on mine and I need to have help fixing it. Thank you!

Hello there, @fdkiralla. Thanks for providing more information about the error message and letting me know that you've tried the troubleshooting that was provided.

I'd like to do more troubleshooting to isolate the issue and get to the bottom of this behavior.

Let's run the Repair Tool on your QuickBooks:

  1. If you haven't already, back up your company file.
  2. Restart your computer. This makes sure there are no programs that may affect the repair.
  3. Open the Windows Start menu, then select Control Panel.
  4. Choose Programs and Features then Uninstall a Program.
  5. Click QuickBooks from the list of Programs, then Uninstall/Change.
  6. Press Continue.
  7. Select Repair, then Next.
    • Note: The repair should start right away, but it may take a while to finish. You can leave it running, and come back once it's done.
  8. Once it's done, push Finish.
    • Note: You may have to restart your computer to complete the repair.
  9. Update your QuickBooks to the latest release. This makes sure you have the most recent fixes and security updates.

Once you're finished with the Repair Tool, run the Install Diagnostic Tool from the Tool Hub. If you receive any errors, you can provide me the details or a screenshot by leaving me a Reply. If no errors appear, try using the e-pay service again.

I'll keep an eye out for your response. Talk to you soon!
