Adding transactions to a recurring invoice for the next occurrence

I run a web development business and have some customers on a monthly retainer.  Their invoices are setup to send automatically through recurring invoices in QBO.  Sometimes there are items I wish to add to the next recurring invoice (expenses incurred during the last period, added work, etc).

Is it possible for me to add items to the next occurrence of a recurring invoice?  I have just been sending separate invoices, but that confuses my clients.

Thanks!

When you create a recurring template for Invoice, select "Reminder" type instead of "Scheduled" type if you need to add items before sending it. You will see it on the Reminder List (Gear > Lists > Recurring Transactions > Select Reminder List).

You can also refer to this QuickBooks article for more information:

No, not if you allow or set QB to send the invoice automatically

if you remove the automatic send setting, then you can use the saved invoice, add what you need and send it.

then maybe reschedule the invoice for auto send

Re: Adding transactions to a recurring invoice for the next occurrence

Hey @claydough2k,

Have you looked into the delayed charges feature? If the "add-on" item is the only variable that changes and the other items on the recurring invoice stay constant, you might think about creating delayed charges for your customer ahead of time so you can schedule them to send around the same time. It doesn't necessarily solve the two invoice issue, but you'd always know which items you need to charge the customer and can plan accordingly.
