Does anyone know how to add the local tax agencies for TX? The base sales tax rate for TX is 6.25%, but there's an additional 2% in my area that Intuit doesn't recognize.

Re: Does anyone know how to add the local tax agencies for TX? The base sales tax rate for TX is ...

We personally deliver our products to our customers in Texas and must charge the tax rate at their address.  The suggestion above to customize the invoice did not work.

I finally found today, that if I change the “ship from” address on the top right side of the invoice to be the customer address, then it pulls in the correct tax jurisdictions!  I no longer have to override every invoice sales tax amount, and I’m assuming that my reporting will all be correct now.  Online customer service was no help at all, after 2 long sessions.  I played around and figured this one out on my own.

Hi there, @jon4.

Thanks for reaching out to us here in the Community. I'm here to share some information about the Sales Tax rate in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

QBO will calculate sales tax based upon the address information you enter. If you'd like to check the rates calculated by QBO, let's try to create a dummy invoice. Here's how:

1. Click the Plus icon at the top.
2. Pick Invoice under Customers column.
3. Choose a customer.
4. Enter any product and amount.
5. Put a checkmark on the box under Tax column.
6. Click the Sales tax on the Subtotal (highlighted in blue).
7. On the Your tax agency and standard rate, you'll see the sales tax calculated by QBO.

I also attached some sample screenshot for your visual guide.

If you're not seeing the additional 2%, you can override the tax rate by going to the Tax Categories and Totals for the meantime. Please see the screenshot below.

I'd also suggest contacting our Phone Support Team. They have the tools that can check your account and further investigate as to why your tax rate didn't update. You can reach them through this link: Get help with QuickBooks Online.

For future reference, you may visit this article for more information: Sales tax in QuickBooks Online.

That's it. Please let me know how it goes or if I can be of additional assistance. I'd be glad to answer should you have follow up questions. Have a great weekend.

Overriding the rate for every invoice I enter is unacceptable.  I can’t get decent help from anyone on chat.  They act like this is new.  I know that for a state as large as Texas, this is a more common complaint.  BTW, I’m on QBO, and my problem is that when my office personally delivers products to customers, it still wants to charge from my office address, not the shipping address.

Hello there, @MageeGraph.

Let's customize your invoice or estimate form style to change the shipping address to office address. Let me guide you how.

In the Custom Form Style, you can remove the shipping address from there. Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon, then select Custom Form Style.
  2. Click the New style drop-down.
  3. Choose Invoice or Estimate.
  4. Click the Content tab, then the Header area to edit.
  5. Under Display, uncheck the Shipping to remove the address on the form.
  6. Click Done.

I've attached screenshot below for your visual reference.

Also, you can read through this article for your reference: How to Customize Invoices, Estimates, and Sales Receipts.

Fill me in if you have further questions. I'll be around if you need any help.
