Printing 1099s

1099 does not align on the bottom 1099 of the page. there are 2 1099 per page when printing.  the top aligns the second does not,. bought 1099 forms from office depot

Thanks for reaching out to us here in the Community. I can help you fix the alignment issue you're getting when printing 1099s in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

 

To align the bottom part of the 1099 form when printing, you need to make horizontal and vertical adjustments on the Fine-tune alignment page. 

 

Here's how:

 

1. Go to Expenses menu at the left panel, then Vendors.
2. Click Let's get started/Continue your 1099s and review the company name and address and the Tax ID, then Next.
3. Review your contractor's information, then select Next.
4. Choose Finish preparing 1099s on the Check that the payments add up page, then click Print and mail.
5. Go through the steps, and select No, it doesn't line up. This will route you to the Fine-tune alignment page.
6. Adjust the horizontal and vertical alignment, then choose Next and Done.

This does not fix the alignment problem for the second half of the page. I have spent HOURS trying to align this form with NO SUCCESS. I hate QB on line!

Allow me to share information about printing alignment in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and help print your 1099 successfully.

 

The pre-printed form stocks must be compatible with QuickBooks. We can only guarantee the compatibility with the forms specially designed for QBO if you've purchased the forms from Intuit. It's possible that the form used when printing the 1099 is not compatible with QuickBooks.

We are having the same issue - but we DID order our forms from Intuit.  Any suggestions?  The top portion is perfect, the bottom is not.

Let's try two more solutions before we tap our phone agents for this, c1013.

 

Another cause of printing issues in QBO is an outdated version of the Abode Reader. This program is responsible for printing your files from your computer. To update its release version, kindly visit the Adobe website for the detailed instructions. Then, print your 1099 forms again.

 

You can also repair the installation of the Adobe Reader in case you get the same result after the update.

 

Here's how:

  1. Close the Acrobat Reader and all open browsers on your computer.
  2. Click the Start button in the lower left-hand corner of your screen.
  3. Type Control Panel in the search box, and then press Enter on your keyboard.
  4. Select Programs and Features.
  5. Select Acrobat or Adobe Reader, and then select Uninstall/Change.
  6. Click Next in the Setup dialog box.
  7. Click RepairNext, and then select Install.
  8. Click Finish when the repair is complete.
  9. Restart your computer.
  10. Log in to QBO again and print the 1099's.

If the bottom part of your 1099's is still not printing correctly, please give us a call. We can check what's causing the alignment issue, and we'll fix it for you.

This is a terrible issue - The government sets the form - QB online should design the form to be able to print .

 

I have had to create a dummy company on my QB Desktop company, enter the total value as checks and print the 1099's from Desktop - which aligns so much easier and prints on the forms I purchased - much cheaper than the Intuit forms.

 

This is one of the reasons why I love Desktop more than Online.

We had the same issue with printing the bottom of the 1099 forms. And none of the solutions provided were to our liking. So we had to settle for the alternative: Have Quickbooks e-file. And then we would just print the completed forms they had set up. Lots of paper being used by doing this, but at least we don't have to concern ourselves with trying get alignments right. To Quickbooks: I highly suggest you update your alignment adjustment features to include both the top and bottom of the 1099 forms

I had to set up a dummy desktop QB to print the 1099s. After 4 plus hours spent trying everything suggested on this site! Again, this is why I recommend to all my clients to never use QBO, get the desktop version instead!

When printing the report, check the box for Fit to page or set the scale to fit the report on the page in the print window.
