Restore Sales Tax Expense (deleted)

Hello - we are setting up new NZ Company and have received this error on QBO NZ.

!Something's not quite right:

Account assigned to this transaction has been deleted. Before you can modify this transaction, you must restore Sales Tax Expense (deleted).

I am unsure as when I go to the taxes section it is showing the Sales tax in Sales Rate and Purchase rate correctly. NZ QBO sales tax.PNG

I'll make sure that you can get rid of that error, tquinn.

The error message that you've encountered normally occurs when you edit a transaction posted to a deactivated expense account. To fix this, you can go the Chart of Accounts and then reactivate the Sales Tax Expense account. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Click the Gear icon above the Action column.
  4. Tick the Include inactive option, then locate the deactivated Sales Tax Expense account.
  5. Select Make active from the Action column.

I've also included some resources that you can browse to help organize your Chart of Accounts:

You can always find me here if you need more help in setting up your QuickBooks company.
