Sales Tax Liability Report

My sales tax liability report is not populating correctly.  Last quarter was fine  - showed gross sales, non-taxable sales, and taxable sales.  This quarter the report is messed up - the numbers don't even makes sense - it shows my taxable amount is MORE than my gross sales and it shows nothing for non-taxable ... What went wrong here ???

Sales Tax Liability Report

Hello @Menne Garden Artistry,

Let's perform a few troubleshooting steps to determine the reason why your report seems to be not populating the correct data.

To start with, let's consider changing the date and the accounting method of your Sales Tax Liability report. This way, it can maximize the range of the data needed data for your report so you can confirm it base on how it shows from accrual to cash accounting method.

If the data still isn't accurate even after changing the date and accounting method, let's consider logging in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using a private or incognito browser so we can isolate this issue. To do so:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Option P

If this works, you can clear your regular browser's cache so the system can start fresh. But if you get the same results while using a private browser, use a different browser app instead.

Additionally, I've also included this reference for a compilation of articles you can use while working with us: Sales Tax for QuickBooks Online.

If there's anything else that I can help you with, please let me know in the comments below. I'll be here to lend a hand.

Some items tag as the non-taxable reason why the tax collected may have the incorrect amount. You may need to check each transaction manually to see if the items were tagged taxable.

If there were items tagged as non-taxable, you could change it to taxable to correct the amount.
