Sales Tax

Our business has recently launched eccomerce products. When I record the transactions as a sales receipt Quickbooks almost always calculates a different tax rate than Square or Paypal. Do I just over-ride the Quickbooks tax amount or is this bad bookkeeping process? I am not sure who to get the amounts to properly match. What is the suggested route for this issue?

Thank you for posting here in the Community, @admin3677.

Let me share some information about taxes in QuickBooks Online.

Sales Tax is the sum of state rates plus local rates which may include city, or district rates. QuickBooks automatically calculate tax rate based on the location of sale or the ship-to address you add in an invoice or receipt.

Please know that for QuickBooks calculate the exact tax rate, make sure that the address you add in an invoice or receipt is correct and complete.

You can use this article if you’re looking for a specific sales tax rate in your state. Find your sales tax rate for your state.

I also recommend contacting a tax expert so you’ll be guided with the correct tax rate.

Please leave a comment below if you have any other questions. Keep safe.
