Taxes, Sales tax settings, Custom rates, how do I delete them? Or make them inactive?

I've made too many custom rates, and would like to remove them. How?

Taxes, Sales tax settings, Custom rates, how do I delete them? Or make them inactive?

Hello there, @ASHLEY_512.

Let me provide a few information on how the sales tax center works.

At this time, the option to delete a sales tax is unavailable QuickBooks Online (QBO). However, you can change its status to inactive. From there, you'll no longer receive notifications about it. Here's how:

  1. Go to Taxes from the left menu, select Sales Tax.
  2. Click the Sales tax settings link.

  3. From the Action column, click the Edit drop-down arrow.
  4. Hit Make inactive.

You can visit this blog for more detailed information: Sales Tax in QuickBooks Online.

Just in case you wanted to set rules for how to tax a product or service, you can refer to this article: Add sales tax categories to your products and services.

Keep me posted if you have more questions. I'll keep my notifications open. Stay safe and well!

You can only make agencies in active, not custom rates.  Do we have to make the agency in active and start over?

Thanks for joining us today, @thomasgroup-4080.

I'll share with you the information about the sales tax custom rates in QBO. Currently, the option to delete or make them inactive is unavailable. You can only inactivate the state agency.

I'll be around if you have other questions or concerns. Just drop them in the reply section below and I'll be happy to answer them for you. Have a wonderful day.
