Hi there, @tukan.

We can go to the VAT centre to see and edit the incorrect VAT registration number.

Here's how:

  1. Choose Taxes from the left menu.
  2. Tap the Edit VAT drop-down then click Edit Settings.
  3. Then change then the VAT registration number.
  4. Hit Save.

For the detailed instruction, please click this link in how to set up and edit VAT settings.

Also, you can read out these resources it provides steps on how to customize your invoice and how to file and submit your VAT return in QuickBooks:

Please let me know if you have any further queries. I'm here to lend a hand. Take good care.

I'm using a custom form but in the field for the customer tax reg #, quickbooks automatically adds VAT No before the number and is not correct for my countryCan i change?

Hi,

The problem is the customer's VAT, when i create an invoice with my custom form style, in the field that is assigned to the "customer's Tax Reg No" quickbooks automatically adds the prefix "VAT No" which is incorrect for my country. Is there any way i could edit or delete this prefix?

Thanks

Thanks for bumping up again, tukan. I would like to help you out with this.

It could be that we are using a different QuickBooks international version. That is why it is adding a prefix Vat No in our customer's Tax Registration No.

If that's the case, we can create a form and import it to QuickBooks. It's a way to correct and pre-fill the form of your customer. We will first need to turn Import style on from the QuickBooks Labs and import your .docx file Microsoft Word.

Let's follow the steps below to do so:

  1. Go to the Gear.
  2. Select QuickBooks Labs under Your Company.
  3. Switch the Import Style ON. Then, Done

After that, in the Custom form styles, click the drop-down arrow in the New Style button and select Import style. Check out this article. It provides details and steps on how we can do it successfully.

We can go to this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/choose-country/ and choose the right account for you. Let's use the same login credentials to do it.

Please let me know how it goes.  I would keep an eye on this to make sure that you 're getting the things you want in your book. I'll be around to respond as soon as I can. Take care!

Welcome, @tukan.

Let me help you this time.

In your own imported style, you’ll want to ensure there’s no label in the field for the customer to ensure QuickBooks will allow you to set the Customer Tax Reg No.

Please come back if you need anything. I’ll be more than happy to assist you.

Hi, Thanks for the replies.

My issue is the following, this is the original word file for the template:

Capture 2.PNG

And once i import it and map the fields, then QuickBooks changes it to this:capture.PNG

Adding automatically the prefix "VAT No." on the "Customer Tax Reg #" field, which is not valid and i'd like to change, is it possible to change it?

Hello again, @tukan.

Thanks for getting back and providing a screenshot.

To ensure the design of your custom form style is perfect. As you upload, the system looks for text enclosed in angle brackets (<>) in your .docx template.

QuickBooks identify which parts of the template are dynamic then matches those in QuickBooks fields to ease the mapping of your custom form.

To know more about this process, I recommend checking this article for detailed guidance: Import custom form styles for invoices or estimates.
