W-2 Adjustment

How do I adjust W-2 to allow for addition of "2% S/H Medical - $7,408.93" in box 14? This is required by law. The last 2 years I had to call in to support to have them make the change. Now it is impossible to call support for help. Does Intuit/Quicken even have live support anymore? How are others customers handling this?

W-2 Adjustment

Glad to see you here in the Community, @wkorpacz.

I can help you add the S/H Medical in Box 14. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu, and choose Employees.
  2. Select Payroll Tax Forms & W-2s.
  3. Choose Process Payroll Forms.
  4. Double-click the Annual Form W-2/W-3 Wage and Tax Statement/Transmittal.
  5. Enter the correct year, then click on OK.
  6. Mark the employees you want to view.
  7. Click Review/Edit.
  8. Select the Form W-2 link at the top of the form.
  9. In Box 14, enter the description and the amount.
  10. Click the Check for errors button.

Once done, you can now file the W-2 form. For additional reference, you can check this article: Process and file W-2 forms

However, if you already file the form, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Support Team. Here's the link: Contact Payroll Support.

You can also check it here on how to fix an incorrect W-2.

Stay in touch with us if you have other questions. I'm always happy to help. Take care!

W-2 Adjustment

Hi. Thanks for the response. I am using Intuit Online Payroll and these instructions do not get me to the place to make corrections to Box 14. There is no Edit button or Form W-2 link.

W-2 Adjustment

Thanks again for your response. Update on issue. I am using Intuit Online Payroll. I need to add $7,408.93 to Box 1 Federal Wages. Then in Box 14 I need to add "2% S/H Medical - $7,408.93". No changes are needed to Box 3, 5, 16, or 18. This has no affect on payroll. It is a cashless transaction. In addition 4th quarter forms 940 and 941 need to be adjusted. Can you help me with this?

W-2 Adjustment

This situation should be typical among many owners who have medical expenses paid by the company and own 2% or more of the sub S corp.

1. W-2 Box 1 must be increased by the total of the medical costs paid by the company.

2. W-2 Box 14 must show the medical costs paid, with the description "2% S/H Medical".

3. Form 940 must be adjusted for Total Payments to All Employees.

4. Form 941 must be adjusted for Wages, Tips, and Other Comp. with the tax amount adjusted accordingly.

There should be a screen to allow us to make this adjustment and have it role through the W-2 and 940/941 forms. This must be required by many people in this situation. Being forced to use the community and other non-personal means of customer service is frustrating. The fact that no one knows how to handle this makes this service a joke. You don't even seem to be able to distinguish between Intuit On-Line Payroll and Quicken On-Line Payroll. I never thought I would long for the days of Paycycle but at least there you could talk to someone and they would work out the solution with you. At Intuit/Quicken there is no easy way to resolve this situation.
