I am confused on the W2-C.

The IRS book says: (An administrative error occurs only if the amount you entered in box 2 (4&6) of the incorrect Form W-2 was not the amount you actually withheld.)

I am only correcting wages. Do I leave the tax section blank as those were the actual amounts I withheld or do I fix them as how they should have been reflected?

Also can I send in the print-offs from QB? Some sites talk of a red form. I don't have that kind of printer.

Thanks

As the Tax Book makes it sound

What I am thinking may actually be more correct

Hi there, @bjk. Welcome to the Community!

I'm here to clarify what you need to fill out on the W-2c form. Per the IRS's instructions on the topic, "you will only complete money fields that are being corrected" (as shown below). If you'll be filing the forms manually, you'll want to obtain the red ink forms from the IRS directly, as the official printed version of this IRS form is scannable, but the online version of it, printed from this website or from QuickBooks, is not. A penalty may be imposed by the IRS for filing forms that can’t be scanned.

For more information on Form W-2c, check out: About Form W-2 C, Corrected Wage and Tax Statements.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do to be of assistance. Cheers to a safe and productive week ahead!

Thanks for letting us know your payroll service, Jchang926.

When using the Intuit Full Service Payroll, we file the payroll forms for you.

Let's just ensure the employee's information is updated. Here's how:

  1. Click Workers.
  2. Go to the Employees tab.
  3. Select the employee, then click Edit employee.
  4. Go to the Pay tab, then click the Pencil icon below What are Employee's withholdings?.
  5. Check the employee's name and SSN.
  6. Click Done.

Once done, I'd suggest reaching out to our customer care support. This way, our payroll specialist will be updated with the changes made on your employee's information. Here's how:

  1. Open this link.
  2. Select Online Payroll.
  3. Click Start a message in the Intuit Full Service Payroll section.

I'll include this article about accessing payroll tax forms and tax payments that Intuit has sent for you for future reference.

Please feel free to post anytime if you have other payroll concerns. We'd be pleased to work with you again.

If the IRS requires the use of a special form with special ink for the Copy A of the W-2C and W-3C how can I print on the printed form?  I read earlier that QuickBooks only supports the us of the blank perforated forms.

Good evening, @cnovich

Thanks for following the thread.

You can purchase forms, but you'd need to ensure they are compatible with your product. If you're currently using Full Service Payroll, the form isn't compatible. However, the tax forms are filed by Intuit as part of the Full-Service Payroll package.

You can purchase forms here: https://intuitmarket.intuit.com/tax-forms/w2-forms.
