We are a automotive repair garage. The new sales tax system is going to create issues. Any one else having issues with it?

Shipping to address keeps showing up even though is turned off in settings. Sales tax is ONLY based on our business address. Previuosly shipping addresses were added auto in QKBKS. Do I really have to go through all my customers and delete this info? Not working for my company!

Yes, intuits autosales tax needs that ship to field to be blank if you want the company location to be used to calculate sales tax.  Or put the company address in the ship to block

can the ship to field be defaulted to our company address? Seems like a lot of unnecessary time wasted.

It' my priority to help you sort this out, @hopeful_sis.

The ability to default the company address into the shipping field is not possible.

The shipping area will be based on the customer's information. You can delete it manually or, you can input it under the message on invoice for the shipping reference. Let me show you how.

  1. Click the +New icon, and choose Invoice
  2. Under Customer drop-down arrow, select the customer name
  3. Under Shipping to leave the address blank.
  4. From Message on invoice, you can input the Shipping to address.

Once done, the Sales tax calculation will be based on the company location.

Knowing that "shipping" field needs to be blank is helpful for correct sales tax calculation, but additionally we have also recently been experiencing a problem with sales tax not being calculated correctly on some sales receipts. Some products on the receipt have sales tax calculated and some do not. We have confirmed that our products are set up correctly to be eligible for sales tax. We have to go to the "see the math" link to manually force the calculation. Is there a way to avoid having to go to "see the math" to make sure sales tax is calculated correctly, automatically?

Thanks for joining us here, @info989.

QuickBooks automatically do the sales tax calculations for easy and accurate filings. It also calculates the total tax rate for each sale based on your customer’s tax-exempt status, where you sell and where you ship, and what you sell.

For your products, you can add tax categories so you can track sales tax accurately. I'll guide you how.

  1.  Learn what items need tax categories and why.
  2. Go to the Sales menu, and choose Products and Services.
  3. Click New, then select the type of item you need to add. If you'd like to update an existing item, find the item then select Edit.
  4. Select the Sales tax category dropdown menu, then Choose a special tax category. Find and choose the specific sales tax category that fits your item.
  5. Complete your item’s information:

Once done, you can now save your item.
