Why, when importing sales into QB from square, would it show that I have $0 taxable sales, but $525 gross sales (using Simple Start, running sales through Square)?

Thanks for visiting the Intuit Community, hammockbros.

I'd like to have this taken care of.

Let's make sure your account mapping preference is correct. I'll guide you through the steps below:

  1. Select Apps from the left menu.
  2. Choose My Apps.
  3. Under the Sync with Square, choose Settings.
  4. In the Basic Settings, select Edit.
  5. From the QuickBooks drop-down list, select your preference for your bank account, expense account and payment method.
  6. Put a check mark on the box for the subscribe notification then select Save changes.
  7. In the Defaults for Unmatched Items, select Edit.
  8. For the Default income account from the drop-down, choose Square Income.
  9. For the Default sales tax code from the drop-down, choose Unassigned Tax from Square Sales.
  10. Select Changes then choose Connect.

Thanks for the help!  Those were the settings that were already set in my Sync with Square app.  It seems to be accruing tax correctly for any sales that happen now, it just was on the sales that I imported from the past.

I manually entered sales on my state reporting form and just handled it that way, but feel like that was a work around.  Hoping this isn't a propagating error.  Any other thoughts?

Thanks for getting back to us, hammockbros.

Sales tax is not included for the past transactions. It will only affect transactions created moving forward. However, you can manually record the sales tax as a lump sum in QuickBooks Online.

Here's how:

  1. Click the plus icon (+) located in the upper right-hand corner.
  2. Under Customers, select any sales transactions.
  3. Enter the sales details, and click Save and Close.

I'll be around if you need more help with QuickBooks. Thanks.
