Wisconsin county sales tax not calculating properly

The sales tax rate is not calculating properly for Burnett County Wisconsin. There should be an additional .5 percent county tax in addition to the 5% state sales tax rate. How do I fix this issue?

Re: Wisconsin county sales tax not calculating properly

Hello, blewis.

Allow me to help you go over to your sales tax settings and ensure that it's calculating properly. Let's get started.

The new sales tax feature in QuickBooks Online looks at a variety of information to calculate your sales tax:

  • The state where you have nexus and are registered to collect sales tax.
  • The physical address of your business.
  • The physical address on the sales receipt or invoice.

The Automated Sales Tax calculates based on the Location of the sales occurred. It automatically calculates tax for the shipping fee of the customer. You may want to check and verify your clients' addresses.

Once verified and the sales tax is not calculating accurately, you can manually override the calculated amount for the meantime.

To update the sales tax rate, I'd suggest reaching out to our QuickBooks Online Support. They have the necessary tools to get your rate updated. To reach us, please follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online Company.
  2. Click (?) Help at the upper right corner.
  3. Select Contact US on the pop-up.
  4. Enter a brief description of your concern then hit Continue.
  5. Click Get a callback.
  6. Enter your contact information.
  7. Select Call me.
