Withholding Taxes

Does anyone know how QB determines the Total Wages amount on their Quarterly Withholding Statement worksheet? Every quarter I run this report, and every quarter it is the wrong amount.

Wagebase, wages that are taxed, which is probably what you're seeing are determined for each tax based on the settings on monies that can be taxes, like salaries, benefits, and deductions.

I'm not familiar with the "Quarterly Withholding Statement worksheet?" How do you launch it & is that exactly what it is called?

Withholding Taxes

The quarterly withholding amounts for our business should be AGI+S-Corp Ins. The form in our QB is called, "Minnesota Quarterly Withholding Statement Worksheet". In QB Desktop, on the Homepage go to

>Payroll Center

>File Forms

>WH QTD Report - Report to Complete Withholding Quarterly Tax Return

It will open to the report, "Minnesota Quarterly Withholding Statement Worksheet". This report, as aforementioned, is wrong every quarter. If I knew how QB populates the Total Wages field, I could use the information.

Sorry! The correct path to get to the  Quarterly Withholding Statement Worksheet is:

from the Homepage go to the tabs at the top, then

>Employees

>Employee Center, then click on the tab

>File Forms

>WH QTD Report - Report to complete withholding tax return

Withholding Taxes

Hello there, LeahC.

You can run the Tax Form Worksheet report. You can filter the report to show State Taxes.

  1. Click Employees on the menu tab.
  2. Scroll to Payroll Tax Forms & W-2s, then select Tax Form Worksheets in Excel.

You will see where QuickBooks got the information to calculate the taxes. The tax tracking type and manual adjustments will affect the tax calculations.

Here's an article for reference: QuickBooks Desktop calculates wages and/or payroll taxes incorrectly.

Let me know if you have other questions about tax calculations.

I see. So that's a tax form feature but but labeled a worksheet.

The form just received the wages and taxes from QB after it calculates and saves them on paychecks.

You say the wages there are wrong. What is wrong?  What I mean is, what are you expecting (and why?) and what are you getting instead?  Basically what makes you think the form is wrong?
