If you are trying to determine the best way to track employee time against specific jobs, this video will help explain how TSheets will sync the data with QuickBooks Online including QBO Payroll processing.
Great Video! I have been struggling to get this setup, and you video was helpful to know I haven't screwed it up (yet). You actually cut away from the QBO video right when I hoped to see the result of processing payroll.
At minute 15 you verbalize my exact issue, time doesn't show as part of project profitability. Currently my time, synced from Tsheets, burdened with the hourly cost rate feature, and shows in Time Activity for each, but does not show as a cost on the project profit. We don't use QB for payroll, and I am trying to get that time expense to populate as a cost from the project view. Since it's is burdened costs, I am scared to post to the Expense accounts because we enter payroll separately. How can you get those costs to "post" or show in the project profitability without affecting the P&L?
Hello there, Greg.
Thanks for reaching out to the Community.
I can share some insights that can help you in managing reports. The costs will affect the Profit and Loss Report since you'll have to get it posted in the Project Profitability to track your project budget and expense cost. The Profit and Loss Report (P&L) shows your total income and total expenses (including the hourly cost) in a specific period of time.
There's also a possibility that you'll have a duplicate reports for your expenses since you're using another program in managing your payroll.
I've added an article that will guide you in managing your Project Profitability Reports: How to Use Project Profitability Reports in QuickBooks (without QuickBooks Online Payroll).
Keep posting in this thread if you have any other concerns or questions about QuickBooks. I'll be happy to help.
Is there a step-by-step tutorial/guide on getting TSheets approved time into QB Online, and then whatever steps are needed within QB Online for time to be included as a cost of a project at the Burdened cost rate (Hourly Cost Rate) within Project Profitability? I currently see time under a Project's Time Activity, but that time is not reflected as a cost of the project in the calculation of the project's profitability.
Hi Greg! Sorry for my slow response but I would be happy to help you out! I tell you what, if you are open to doing a zoom meeting, why don't we setup a time and we can run through it together. I can pull up my fake company file and we will walk through it. Once we have the exact solution you are looking for we can make a video that shares the answer with everyone else too!
If your not available for a zoom, give me a little bit and I can add another video that specifically displays that!
Thanks for the kind words on the video.... that's what keeps me motivated to keep creating!!
If you or anyone else is interested to do a zoom meeting you can pull up my profile to get my direct email, or pull a search of my name on Facebook and reach out there for a quicker response!
Look forward to chatting soon!
Thank you ParkwayInc. Year end has my responses slow as well. Only times I have to work on this is well outside business hours Pacific time. Kids are asleep then, so a live call wouldn't work for me. I appreciate the offer.
I found another video that shows what should happen with Tsheets time when quickbooks payroll is not enabled, and it worked just as one would expect. However the video is 8 months old, "enhancements" have occurred and it does not appear to function that way now. Further, QB payroll was enabled and now I expect to see hourly cost rate applied as part of project profitability once payroll is run, but I am still not seeing that.
Any help you can provide is much obliged.
