This article is for QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Enhanced. Here's how to check to be sure which version of payroll you have. If you're using QuickBooks Desktop Basic or Standard, you'll need to file and pay taxes directly with the agencies.

Understand requirements for e-services
To participate in E-File and E-Pay, you must have:
- A supported version of QuickBooks Desktop
- Active Quickbooks Desktop Payroll Enhanced Service subscription
- Log in credentials required by the agency
- Tax form or payment liability you plan to submit through E-File or E-Pay must be supported in QuickBooks Desktop
- The latest payroll tax table update.

Note: If you have already enrolled and have e-filed your federal forms before, no need to re-enroll you may begin e-filing forms with QuickBooks Desktop. If you have made e-payments using the EFTPS website, EFTPS phone system, or through other channels, you don't have to re-enroll

Each state has different requirements, so, depending on your State, you may be required to enroll with a State Tax Agency. The state will provide you with a log in to be used to pay and file forms in Quickbooks Desktop. See Enroll in e-file with your state tax agency.
