Verify your bank account for payroll

SOLVEDby QuickBooks291Updated 2 weeks ago

Learn how to verify a test transaction made to your bank account to activate direct deposit or e-pay and e-file services.

When you connect your bank account in QuickBooks Payroll, we run a test deposit of less than $1.00 to make sure we can process your direct deposits or tax payments with your bank.

Follow the steps below to verify your bank account info. If you have successfully connected your bank through Instant Bank Verification, you don’t need to do these steps.

Step 1: Look for the test transaction amount

The test transaction amount of less than $1.00 will be posted to your bank account within 2-3 banking days, after setting up your bank account in QuickBooks Online Payroll and QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

Check your bank account statement or contact your bank for the test transaction amount.

Step 2: Enter the test transaction amount

Once you have the test transaction amounts ready, log in to your QuickBooks Payroll as a Primary admin or Master admin. Then enter the test transaction amount without the decimal point.

Note: Not sure which payroll service you have? Here's how to find your payroll service.
  1. Go to Payroll, then Overview.
  2. From your To Do List, select Let's Go on Check your bank account item.
  3. Select Verify Amount.
  4. Enter and confirm the transaction amount (no decimal point).
  5. Select Verify.

If there's no New payroll tasks option, here's another way to verify test transaction:

  1. Go to Settings ⚙, then Payroll settings.
  2. In Bank accounts, select Edit .
  3. Select Verify Amount, then enter and confirm the amount.
  1. Open QuickBooks and sign in as the QuickBooks Admin.
  2. Select Employees, then My Payroll Service
  3. Select Activate Direct Deposit.
  4. Sign in to your Intuit Account.
  5. Enter the debit amount twice, then select Verify.
  6. Enter your payroll PIN.
  7. Select Submit, then Ok.

If there's no Activate Direct Deposit option, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Employees, then select Manage Payroll Cloud Services.
  2. Let it load completely, then close it.
  3. Once done, follow steps 2 – 7 to verify your bank account.

If you don’t see Manage Payroll Cloud Services, update QuickBooks.

Once your bank account info is verified, you can pay your employees by direct deposit.
