Import existing bank rules in QuickBooks Online

If you set up bank rules on a QuickBooks Online company file, you can export them, then import them to a new company file. This can save you time and create consistency. 

To import existing bank rules, follow these steps.

Export rules

  1. Sign in to the company file you want to export the bank rules from.
  2. Go to Accounting, then select Rules (Take me there).
  3. Select the New rule ▼ dropdown and then Export rules.
  4. Save the export file in Excel.
  5. Sign out.

Import rules

  1. Sign in to the company file you want to import the rules into.
  2. Go to Accounting, then select Rules (Take me there).
  3. Select the New rule ▼ dropdown and then Import rules.
  4. Select Browse and find the Excel file you exported.
  5. Select the rules and details you want to import.
  6. Follow the prompts to finish the import.
