Can I make a credit note direct from a bundle invoice?

Yes, we can add credit notes from a bundled invoice, esterna. I can share steps to ensure you can add credits to the sales entries created.

In QuickBooks, you can either make a credit note transaction and apply it directly to the invoice or create a custom credit service item to add them as a single line item on your sales entry. Doing so will help reduce the customer's current balances when invoicing.

If you've already created a bundled invoice, here's how to make a credit note:

  1. In your QuickBooks Online account, click the  + New icon and select Credit Note.
  2. From the Customer dropdown, choose the customer's name.
  3. Enter the credit note details, such as the date and the amount.
  4. Then, select Save and Close.

Once done, you can refer to Step 2: Apply the credit note to an invoice outlined in this article: Create and apply credit notes in QuickBooks Online.

On another note, you can manually create a custom credit service item with a negative amount to directly apply it to your invoices. To do this:

  1. Go to the Sales tab, and select Products and Services.
  2. Click the New button and choose either Non-inventory or Service and enter a unique name.
  3. In the Income account field, choose a specific account.
  4. Choose Non-Taxable under the Sales tax category drop-down.
  5. For the Sales price/rate, you can add a negative fixed value so it will automatically populate on your invoice once you select the item. You can also leave it blank and manually enter the desired amount on your invoice.
  6. Then, click Save and Close.

Once ready, select the said item in your invoice, and enter a negative amount if you haven't set one. Then, you'll see the said amount once your invoices are saved.

Additionally, if you want to personalise your invoices, you can add specific customisations to these forms.

Moreover, you can run detailed reports to help you review your overall business finances.

I'll keep this thread available so you can always reply below for any additional queries when managing credit notes on your invoices. Stay safe and have a great day ahead!
