Hello there, @clive-hollimarke.
Happy to have you here in the Community. Let me help you with restoring backup files in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Yes, you can import your QuickBooks data within 60 days of your QBO start date.
You can refer to this link to see how the conversion process works.
You can also check below for the list of data types you can convert.

Hi RoseJillB,
Thank you for your response. It is appreciated.
According to the steps you provided me needed to have upgraded to the latest version of Quickbooks which I did. However on completion I had to re-register which I tried and it failed over and over and now I can no longer get into QB 2015.
Therefore, I cannot open my Quickbooks to perform the migrate process.
I only have backup files of my 2015 Quickbooks and nowhere can I find a way to restore this backup to Quickbooks Online.
So I have decided to purchase QB 2018, but here is my question..
If I buy QB 2018, can I restore my backup file into QB 2018 and then migrate to QB Oline?
Thank you for your help and hope you can resolve my issue for me.
Clive
Don't purchase any license yet. Which QB Desktop 2015 country version do you have?
